Abstract
Alongside virtual money, blockchain has become the focus of interest in the technology news in recent years. Blockchain offers a decentralized mechanism for collecting immutable traces and allows, for example, the construction of alternative financial systems, without central banks, or autonomous organizations based on smart contracts; here Bitcoin and Ethereum, with their virtual currencies, bitcoin and ether, stand out. This book explains the fundamentals of the technological and cryptographic components of blockchain, analyzes its limitations in the management of identity and privacy, and critically discusses its leading role in the configuration of Web 3.0.
